‘Pure’ happiness: Sephora’s new Wanderlust Palette
When I walk through the doors of a Sephora store, I barely ever pay attention to the few towers and counters that carry the Sephora brand products. I normally just pass them up and go to my faves such as Stila, Nars and Benefit.
But lately, I’ve noticed that the brand has done some serious stepping-up and a lot of the new products are pretty crave-worthy (I’ve been drooling over the Morrocan Sunrise Palette for weeks now. Need to pick it up.)
Now, the company has gone in a completely new, eco-friendly direction with the Sephora Pure line. The Wanderlust Palette (pictured) is the first product to launch from the line and more can be expected to hit shelves in September 2009. Sephora promises that all Pure products will be made up of at least 95% natural ingredients and 10% organic ingredients. It isn’t the most “green” makeup that you can get, but this is a huge improvement over some other formulas out there.
When I thought of Sephora doing “green,” I wasn’t sure if they could pull it off. But low and behold, this palette is fabulous. It comes with six eye shadows and a blush which are encased in a sustainable bamboo case. The shadows show a nice variation of color– the bottom three are different shades of brown and the top three are made up of a green, light blue and navy blue. They actually remind me of the colors in the new Too Faced palette minus the pink shade. All of the shadows are very pigmented, which is a huge plus because some Sephora shadows in the past have really disappointed me when it came to color pay-out. The blush is a very pretty and flattering rose color that sweeps on the skin easily for a natural, flushed finish.
I just have to rave a little bit more about the brown shades in this palette because they are sooooooo flattering that they might just become a part of my every-day makeup routine (I’ve worn them the past two days in a row). The brown shades contain a little bit of a pink tint to them, which is a surprisingly nice addition and makes the colors pop instead of looking dull. All of the shadows have a decent amount of shimmer and they last a long time (I would still recommend using an eye shadow primer if you want them to really stay put).
The palette can be picked up online or in stores for $36. It may seem a little bit pricey for a Sephora product, but the shades are a nice size and they really do deliver wonderful results. I am honestly really impressed with this palette.
