Jo Malone takes you from day to night

I am not a perfume buff (that would be Hannah), but I love the way that a certain fragrance can put me in a specific mood. I have my fall and winter scents that are rich and heavy and my spring and summer perfumes that are usually lighter with a lingering sweetness. Usually, I wear one type of perfume to work in the morning and then switch it up to something different at night. I don’t mind doing this, but sometimes that switch can be a little bit jarring. With Jo Malone’s new Kohdo Wood Collection, that transition between two fragrances is a seamless and wonderful experience.

The two new scents that were released earlier this month are Lotus Blossom & Water Lily as well as Dark Amber & Ginger Lily. The scents in this collection are inspired by the ancient Japanese art of incense appreciation and that is something that definitely comes across in the notes. They both have a very natural smell that inspires thoughts of forests, streams and flowers.

The Lotus Blossom cologne is the most amazing daytime scent. It’s sweet, subtle and fresh. It contains top notes of grapefruit, bergamot and mandarin. The middle notes are lotus blossom, freesia, honeysuckle, water lily and jasmine. And the base notes that hold it together are amber, sandalwood, musk, aloeswood and guaiac wood. Yes, it is an absolutely beautiful fragrance that helps to make me feel slightly invigorated in the morning.

But when you come home from working a full day and are ready to hit up an evening out with your boyfriend/husband or some of your favorite gal pals, then a transition to the Dark Amber perfume works wonderfully. This scent is more sexy, spicy and sultry, but it is also really soothing. The top notes in this scent are black cardamom, pink pepper and, of course, ginger. The middle notes consist of night blooming jasmine, orchid, water lily and rose. The scent finishes with base notes of black amber, white pepperwood, leather, patchouli, sandalwood and kyara incense accord.

Because both of these colognes contain jasmine, water lily, sandalwood and amber they really compliment each other nicely. Of course you can pick up each separately depending on the type of scent you need in your collection. But if you have been looking for both a day and night fragrance, I would suggest opting for the smaller sizes of each. They are both incredibly beautiful and perfect for the spring and summer season.
