Mint tingle: Earth Science Purifying Facial Masque
When the weather gets colder, the last thing I usually want to do is use products containing menthol, peppermint or other ingredients that lead to a chill factor (alas, all candy cane holiday novelties will get no love from me). Around October these products are usually relegated to the closet to wait for warmer weather. So while I’m a little upset that I am just now discovering Earth Science Mint Tingle Purifying Facial Masque, I couldn’t be happier to have found such an effective mask–even if it’ll have me shivering in my drafty apartment.
Formulated for oily/combination and acne-prone skin, this bentonite clay mask removes toxins and other impurities, while its high concentration of menthol, peppermint and spearmint encourages new cell growth through intense epidermal stimulation. Azulene (a natural blue chromosome found in German chamomile flowers) lends a brilliant vibrant blue color to the mask (reason enough to use it!). Glycerin and witch hazel ensure moisture and clarity, leaving skin balanced, toned and refreshed.
A word on the intensity: This mask doesn’t pull any punches. My eyes actually watered for the first few minutes after my initial application–it’s that powerful. While still completely worth it (part of the fun, even), sensitive skin types, no matter how oily or blemished, may want to try a spot test prior to diving right in. Which reminds me–the mask also serves as an excellent overnight spot treatment. So even if you can’t handle the full experience, you’ll love the results when used as a spot treatment, and the 4 oz. tube will end up lasting you forever.
